Dylan Teuns is set to race today at the Figueira Champions
Classic, as he begins a new chapter in 2025. The 32-year-old made the switch from Israel-Premier Tech to
Cofidis
over the winter and is looking to build momentum. In conversation with CyclingUpToDate, he has developed on this.
“New team, I had a good start last week, and I hope I can do
well today and also next week in the Algarve,” Teuns shared with us ahead of the race. The Belgian rider is racing for a Cofidis that is looking to save it's World Tour license, and the second place that he obtained at Etoile de Bessèges provided valuable points. It also gave some confidence towards more important races, as he builds towards a big spring with goals on gravel, cobbles and Ardennes.
As a two-time Tour de France stage winner, Teuns has the
experience to compete at the highest level, but the competition today is
fierce. With riders like Joao Almeida, Julian Alaphilippe, and Biniam Girmay on
the start line, victory will be hard-fought.
When asked if he believed a win was possible, Teuns remained
cautious but hopeful. “We will see, we will see if it is possible. We have to
see how the other guys are and how my shape is.”
