Great news keep emerging from Colombia as
Egan Bernal today completes a very meaningful step on the recovery from his recent life-threatening crash.
13 days is how long Egan Bernal has been in the hospital after a serious accident whilst on a team training camp on home roads. The Colombian rider hit a bus whilst descending alongside his teammates and ended up with an extensive list of injuries and a "95% chance of being paralyzed". Seven surgeries later, the majority to stabilize his column, his recovery from the accident is seemingly the best case scenario, to a point where today he was photographed standing on his own feet.
The clinic where he has been ever since the accident communicated today that he has been released. "The patient finds himself on the third phase of the trauma, ready to begin his rehabilitation process. With that said, it pleases us to inform the patient has been released, so that he will continue his rehabilitation process in our institution."
The announcement came with another note of encouragement.
"Today we give more meaning and strenght to the words we carry in our institution as a massion. With pride and hope we begin a new stage together with our athlete."
