Ben Healy continued his incredible Tour de France performance in 2025 on Monday, spearheading a breakaway that ultimately saw him take over the race lead from Tadej Pogacar and move into the Maillot Jaune. So how did EF Education-EasyPost celebrate afterwards? With a trip to McDonalds of course!
Healy began the day trailing the race leader by 3 minutes and 55 seconds. Determined to make an impact, he joined the day’s breakaway and spent much of the stage setting the pace at the front. For hours, he appeared comfortably in control of the virtual yellow jersey. But a late push by Team Visma | Lease a Bike ramped up the pressure on the chasing group, making for a nail-biting finish. Although Healy crossed the line in third, it wasn’t clear right away whether he’d done enough. In the end, Tadej Pogacar opted not to defend the jersey, rolling in with Jonas Vingegaard 4 minutes and 20 seconds behind Healy — a gap that handed the Irishman a 29-second advantage in the general classification.
“We said that if things went well today, the bus driver would take us through a McDonald's drive-thru. I reckon a yellow jersey definitely qualifies,” beamed Healy's EF Education-EasyPost teammate Michael Valgren in post-stage 10 comments collected by Feltet.dk. “So I think we’re in for a visit to Maccy D’s — a little treat for the long journey ahead,” the Dane added with a grin.
Valgren was also understandably full of praise for Healy's heroics. "He’s just a genuinely good lad. He’s serious, he’s funny, and he lives the kind of life you need to as a pro cyclist — but without being over the top. He’s got a great sense of balance,” the 33-year-old assessed. “I’m absolutely delighted for him. He’s a brilliant guy to have at the dinner table, and he really deserves this.”
And of course, with Healy's stage win and now a spell in the Maillot Jaune, it marks a successful Tour de France for the entire EF Education-EasyPost squad. “The Tour was pretty much already saved with the stage win on Stage 6. We’ve been riding brilliantly. Of course, success makes you hungry for more, so we’ll have to set some new goals — but right now, we’re just really happy. It’s incredible,” Valgren concludes. “The yellow jersey means so much — especially at the Tour.”
