Although
Demi Vollering ended her 2025 season on a high with European title and a #1 position on the UCI ranking, the Dutchwoman wasn't really satisfied with how her first season at
FDJ - SUEZ panned out. Motivated towards the year ahead, Vollering is currently getting the base-level work done in Spain, aiming to strike back at her critics.
However her Thursday session did not go well. Despite the sunny weather and solid temperatures pointing towards a calm day in Spain, the European champion crashed on one of the descents, suffering multiple cuts and bruises.
"The day didn't end so well," Vollering wrote on Instagram. "I tried to kiss the asphalt, but I can tell you: don't try that yourself," she laughed. The images she shared show a bloody chin and hand. Otherwise, the damage to the former Tour winner of FDJ - SUEZ appears to be minor.
"Thanks to the 3 cars who past me and didn't even ask if I was okay... It gives me a lot of confidence in humanity," Vollering stated sarcastically. "It's a reminder for me that lots of people are to busy in their own world." At least passing cyclists showed more compassion to check on the Dutchwoman, and she thanked for their concern, assuring that she can drive herself to team hotel on her own.
