Around him, the team has built a mountain core with riders such as his compatriot and new team signing
Gregor Mühlberger, Callum Scotson, and Johannes Staune-Mittet, all set for key roles on the toughest days.
In parallel, the team will not pass up the sprints. Tobias Lund Andresen is the main card for mass finishes, backed by an experienced lead-out and engine room. The Dane has been one of the headliners of the entire year so far; winning the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, stages at Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour Down Under (winning the points classification in both); and being very active all across the cobbled classics.
He is having his key leadout man Tord Gudmestad present, a duo that has been working very effectively this year. Rasmus Søjberg Pedersen will provide further aid whilst he and Oliver Naesen complete a unit which will also have an important role in protecting Felix Gall during the flat days.
Sports director Luke Roberts
summed up the team’s goals on the eve of the race:
“The team has started the season strongly, with good results in both sprints and the mountains. As we move into this next phase — the Grand Tours — our aim is to build on that momentum and consolidate those performances. We come into this race with two main objectives.”
“We want to reach the podium in the general classification with Felix Gall. Felix has enjoyed an excellent build-up, with solid performances at UAE Tour and in Catalunya, and he’s been able to prepare optimally for the Giro. Gregor Mühlberger, Callum Scotson, and Johannes Staune-Mittet are also in good shape and will be fundamental to supporting him in the mountains.”
“In the sprints, Tobias Lund Andresen has already shown outstanding form this season with three WorldTour wins, and we’ll target stage victories with him. Tord Gudmestad, Rasmus Søjberg Pedersen, and Oliver Naesen are also part of the team. They’ll be key to delivering him to the final sprint of the stages. Overall, we expect several chances, and the goal is to convert as many as possible into wins.”
