Tom Pidcock has won Strade Bianche and looked to be one of the men in form this spring, however he will be forced to miss
Milano-Sanremo as he looks to recover from his crash at Tirreno-Adriatico which left him with a slight concussion.
Although the Briton was relatively absent in the Italian race, he finished in the Top10 on stage 6 when the peloton took on the hilly stage to Osimo. Things seemed to be going back on track for Pidcock, but he crashed out of the race on the final day. It seemed to be one that could be brushed off, but it's consequences are now being revealed.
"This is obviously disappointing for both Tom and the team," team principal Rod Ellingworth said in a press release. "We saw at Strade Bianche the sort of form he's in and I know how keen he was to carry that into Milan-San Remo."
"But rider welfare is our first priority and he'll follow the advice of our medical team to ensure that he's 100% ready to safely resume his classics campaign," he concluded. His expected comeback may be at Dwars door Vlaanderen, however with this update he may opt to race sooner in preparation for the Tour des Flandres.
