Commonwealth Games: Aaron Gate wins Elite Road Race after aggressive race

The finale of the Commonwealth Games road cycling period took place today, as Aaron Gate took the win in the men's Elite Road Race to take the title.

The race saw a large group go up the road early on which went on to fight for the race win. It included the likes of Geraint Thomas and Luke Plapp, however they did not manage to fight for the win as a five-rider group went on to fight for the win.

Aaron Gate was the fastest in the final sprint and took the win for New Zealand. He beat Daryl Impey and Finn Crockett who completed the podium.
