Christian Prudhomme expects quality field at next year's Paris-Nice: "I think we can really hope for Remco"

The route of the 82nd edition of Paris-Nice was revealed earlier today. The Race to the Sun starts next year in the Yvelines department, and includes two uphill finishes and a team time trial. The organization hopes to welcome Remco Evenepoel in this 'mini-Tour de France'.

Christian Prudhomme, mainly known as the boss of the Tour de France, looked ahead to the upcoming edition of Paris-Nice after the presentation. "It promises to be a shortened version of the Tour de France in eight days," Het Nieuwsblad quotes. "Even more than normal because the Tour will finish in Nice because of the Olympic Games."

The ASO organization cannot yet say anything about the field of participants, but Prudhomme hopes that Remco Evenepoel will appear at the start of the spring race. "It is too early to say anything about that, but we are not worried about the quality of the field. I think we can really hope for Remco," he said.

Previously he only hinted at it, but he has now said it out loud himself: Remco Evenepoel will go to the Tour de France in 2024. The Belgian is aiming for a top-five result in the general classification. He also announced that he will participate in 'few races' next season. Het Nieuwsblad previously reported that Evenepoel will start its season in the Volta ao Algarve. The 23-year-old rider however does not want to reveal where he will start himself yet.
