Ben Tulett has had a rough start to his World Tour experience however he's motivated for his targets earlier in the year, despite having an unlucky week with Carapaz crashing out of contention,
INEOS Grenadiers managed to take a stage win with Filippo Ganna in the final time-trial.
It was a week of mixed emotions within the INEOS camp. Over in Colombia Egan Bernal has shown great signs of recovery from his serious accident, whilst over in Europe another of the team leaders crashed during the Etoile de Bességes. That was Richard Carapaz who crashed on the final descent of the third stage of the first stage-race of the year in France, however he managed to escape without any major consequences.
He wasn't the only rider from the British team to hit the deck though as on the first day with the team, new sign Ben Tulett crashed as the team attacked in the crosswinds, but managed to go on to complete his first race.
"Not the best start to the season @etoile_de_besseges with a nasty crash on Stage 1. Happy to make it to the finish and see a super strong team performance," Tullet said on his Instagram account, opening up about his first experience in the World Tour.
The 20-year old was hired by INEOS after two years with Alpecin - Fenix despite his young age, last season he's finished Amstel Gold Race in 12th place and the Tour of Pologne in 9th whilst being 19 and racing outside of a World Tour structure which has brough a great deal of attention to his immense potential. He will be present in the Volta ao Algarve very soon and the team has him written in for a debut Grand Tour presence in the Giro d'Italia where he should race alongside some of the teammates he's teamed up with this week.
