Matej Mohoric has conquered Milano-Sanremo in 2022 and he's aiming to defend his title this spring. The Slovenian headlines a very strong lineup for Bahrain - Victorious who can safely aim at the same ambitions this weekend.
Mohoric has shown great form in this start to the season, playing crucial roles on both races at the Opening Weekend and Strade Bianche, all of which he closed in the first spots. His form was on point, and unlike most of his rivals he opted not to race Strade Bianche, and has here his first big goal of the final classics block. Mohoric won the race last year following an attack on the descent of the Poggio and will start with the number 1.
Bahrain - Victorious feature several strong riders that will have a chance of fighting for a result. Pello Bilbao, who has been very consistent this season will be an outsider and a dangerous rider for the descents once again. Damiano Caruso who has recently shown good form at Tirreno-Adriatico will provide great support for the climbs.
The team features Fred Wright who's shown his versatility on the great stage last year and Jonathan Milan who attracted a lot of attention at the start of this season with strong showing at the Saudi Tour. He was termed at times an outsider for the Italian monument. Two rouleurs complete the lineup in Andrea Pasqualon and Nikias Arndt.
Team Bahrain - Victorious for Milano-Sanremo: Matej Mohoric, Nikias Arndt, Pello Bilbao, Damiano Caruso, Jonathan Milan, Andrea Pasqualon and Fred Wright.
