Anything Tadej Pogacar can do... Jonas Vingegaard outlines intentions for Giro d'Italia - Tour de France double in 2025!

First rumoured a few weeks ago, talk of Jonas Vingegaard heading to the Giro d'Italia in 2025 has been gaining momentum in recent days, to the point that it seems that it will be a reality. If that happens, it will the Dane's first time ever competing in the fight for the Maglia Rosa.

The Team Visma | Lease a Bike superstar has never participated in the Corsa Rosa, but his interest in it has grown considerably since Tadej Pogacar set out to race (and win) the Giro d'Italia - Tour de France double in 2024. Now, as noted by La Gazzetta dello Sport's journalist, Ciro Scognamiglio, the operation has begun to be seriously considered within the Dutch team.

"Jonas Vingegaard is interested in Giro d'Italia 2025 participation," begins the well respected Italian reporter. "The option will be studied this autumn with Team Visma | Lease a Bike according to our sources."

Jonas Vingegaard will no longer compete until the 2025 season. In the meantime, the Dane will be looking to organize the best possible schedule to make his presence in both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France next season a reality. Over the course of his career, Vingegaard has participated 4 times in the Tour de France, coming out victorious in 2 of them (2022 and 2023) and 2 times in the Vuelta a Espana. But he has never tried the roads and hard climbs of a Giro d'Italia, where Tadej Pogacar is rumoured to be returning to defend his crown next year.

There are still several months to go, but the 2025 season is already getting very, very interesting. To enjoy a double showdown between Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar in two grand tours in the same year will be an event that could mark two completely historic editions of the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France.
