Uno-X Mobility's Anders Johannessen has secured the overall victory at the 2025 Tour of Slovenia as UAE Team Emirates - XRG's Ivo Oliveira powered to the win on the final stage from the breakaway.
Heading into the final 40km of the day on stage 5, a five-man group was dangling out ahead of the peloton, with Lidl-Trek duo Juan Pedro Lopez and Sam Oomen, joined by Equipo Kern Pharma's José Félix Parra and Diego Uriarte, plus Márton Dina of Euskaltel - Euskadi. With 29km to go, they were then joined at the front by a counter-attacking move from Andrea Piras.
With the final climb of the day, the Trška Gora, coming inside the final 10km, the break began the early slopes still ahead of the peloton by around 50 seconds, but now only down to just Lopez, Parra and Piras as the attacks began. With Lopez being the more renowned of the trio however, it was somewhat unsurprising that the Spaniard was soon solo at the head of the race.
Behind meanwhile, GC leader Anders Johannessen was making moves of his own, leading the likes of Tao Geoghegan Hart and Felix Grossschartner among others in the chase. Despite the intensity of the chase though, Lopez was holding strong and the diminutive Spaniard entered the final 3km clear by around 30 seconds. In a dramatic finale though, Lopez was caught by the bunch, with Ivo Oliveira then sprinting to the win.
