Ally Wollaston has taken the GC win at the 2025 Tour of Britain Women after a thrilling final stage in Glasgow this Sunday afternoon, edging out Cat Ferguson on bonus seconds as Lorena Wiebes took a dominant sprint win.
With no real breakaway to speak of, the intermediate sprints - with time bonuses on offer - were turning out to be key, especially given the close time gaps at the top of the general classification standings. When FDJ - Suez's Ally Wollaston won the penultimate sprint of the day in a photo finish, the New Zealander got to within 1 second of race leader Cat Ferguson in the provisional GC.
Then at the final intermediate sprint of the day, Wollaston again led home Ferguson to take more potentially key seconds in the fight for the overall win and meaning the race headed into the final 15km with the two stars on level time in the GC.
Ahead of the final lap, British talent Anna Morris attempted a flyer of the front, but with around 6km to go she'd been caught. From there, the sprint was certain, with all eyes turning to the fast-women in the bunch. In that sprint, Lorena Wiebes took the stage win, but most importantly, Wollaston took 3rd at the line, adding more bonus seconds to secure the GC victory!
