INEOS Grenadiers endured their most challenging season in
2024 and will need a strong comeback in 2025. The team also suffered a
significant loss over the winter with the departure of
Tom Pidcock, further
adding to their struggles.
In an effort to rebuild and strengthen their talent
pipeline, INEOS Grenadiers have officially partnered with Hot Tubes Development
Cycling, a prestigious junior team in the United States with a 34-year history.
Although the two teams have collaborated informally for several years, this
agreement formalises their relationship.
"I've had a relationship with Ineos for a long time
since Magnus was a junior, and when
Ian Boswell was on Team Sky," said Hot
Tubes Development Cycling founder Toby Stanton
in an interview with Cyclingnews."If you're a good junior and you're interested in
Ineos, you got to come to (Hot Tubes) now. We have more cache because of that
association."
INEOS Grenadiers’ performance director, Scott Drawer,
explained the reasoning behind the partnership, emphasising the shared values
between the two teams.
"There’s an historic and long-term working relationship
already in place with Hot Tubes and to formalise this process was a logical
next step as we grow and develop our talent programme."
"Toby and his team have strong values and a great
approach to development, always putting the junior rider at the centre and
underpinned by significant safeguarding and welfare support."
As part of the collaboration, Dario Cioni and Simon Watts
will oversee how INEOS Grenadiers work with young talent and their development
partners, ensuring proper support for riders as they race and train in Europe.
"Within our team we have Dario Cioni and Simon Watts
overseeing how we work with talent and our partners. They’ll play a crucial
role in this partnership and be able to support the team when they’re
travelling and racing in Europe," Drawer added.
Beyond reinforcing their existing network, this partnership
is also aimed at broadening the team’s scouting efforts in the United States,
providing a direct pathway for young American cyclists to progress through the under-23
category and eventually onto the WorldTour.
"This partnership will also enable us to expand our
talent search in the USA and provide a pathway for American riders to the under
23 category and eventually into the WorldTour."
