Puck Pieterse claimed her first victory of the season with a controlled performance in the women’s race at the
Superprestige Diegem, proving untouchable despite a late puncture on the floodlit circuit.
The race quickly became a duel. Pieterse and Marie Schreiber rode clear early on, with the sand section shaping the differences. Pieterse repeatedly rode the sand cleanly, while Schreiber was forced to fight for momentum despite staying on the bike. That advantage hovered around ten seconds through the middle phase.
The decisive moment came approaching the final laps, when Pieterse was forced into the material post with a puncture. Schreiber closed to within a few seconds and briefly threatened to bring the race back under control. Any doubt was short-lived. Once back up to speed, Pieterse immediately rebuilt her rhythm, stretching the gap again with a smooth sand passage.
Starting the final lap with an advantage of around 11 seconds, Pieterse stayed composed, even when passing lapped riders, and rode safely to the finish.
Schreiber secured a clear second place, her best result of the season, while Ceylin Alvarado finished third after losing touch with the front pair. For Pieterse, it was a dominant win that confirmed her control of the race, puncture or not.
