"You know how it is with small children - they don't sleep all night," explains the 27-year-old two-time Tour de France winner in quotes collected by
Ekstra Bladet. "So we're not sleeping well at the moment - it's not great right now. But that is part of it. It is normal. But he is healthy and well, my wife is healthy and well. I enjoy every second, even if it's hard sometimes."
The birth of his son also coincided with the somewhat early end of Vingegaard's 2024 season as he opted against participation in the World Championships and the Vuelta a Espana. "He was born a little later, so my offseason has been a little longer. But after that I started training in Denmark - about ten hours a week for a month and a half, so I also had time to be with the family," he explains. "Now we scale up the training. The first training camps with the team are planned for December and January."
The actual racing programme of Vingegaard is not yet confirmed for 2025, but as mentioned the Tour de France is expected to once again be the main focus. Whether or not the
Giro d'Italia could also play a part remains a question that is up in the air also.
