Sebastián Unzué, one of Movistar Team's DS', explained in an interview with Marca the reasons why the Spanish squad decided not to make an effort to sign Primoz Roglic.

"I don't think we needed it. With Enric Mas, Nairo Quintana, with young riders who continue to grow... I think we are covered. It's true that it's always attractive to be able to sign a great leader, but the priorities for this year were different and I think we moved well in the market."

He describes the cycling market as positive: "Like every year, especially the last few years, there have been many surprises with unexpected opportunities. We have taken advantage of the opportunities. The last example is Lorenzo [Milezi], who arrived at the last minute. The rest of the people who are coming, after this training camp, we have confidence in them. We know that the group is strong and interesting".

It has been known for some months that Abarca Sports is trying to attract another sponsor to complement the Spanish team and thus be able to make an economic leap in the WorldTour. This is the current situation.

"It doesn't overwhelm. We are still in the process. They are time-consuming processes to find a partner to support a project as big as this one. It is not easy. We are competing with the rest of the teams, with the rest of sports... It's a process that will take a long time, but I think we are doing things right and we will reap the rewards sooner or later."

On the strong criticism that from time to time the team receives from the media or fans and the proximity of relegation in 2022, he commented as follows.

"It is true that criticism was common and strong at times, but we never stopped feeling the affection. The support of the people is key and it is certain that it has given us strength to keep fighting. The 2022 was very complicated and, without the support of the people, it would have been much more difficult to achieve the goal of permanence".
