Matteo Jorgenson is one of Team Visma | Lease a Bike's transfers for 2024 and one that under the radar, can be quite positive. The American rider is immensely versatile and is fitting in well with the Dutch team's structure.
"There are many reasons why I chose Team Visma | Lease a Bike. The team's mentality appealed to me. The hard-working staff don't miss a single detail, which I like. Such an approach suits me," Jorgenson said in a press release. After taking part in the team's training camp in Spain, he's gotten a taste of how he will function with the team for the upcoming three years.
"Last season, I had some good results in the spring. This year, I will try to help the team achieve its goals in the classics," he adds. Visma already have an incredibly strong block for the classics, although it lost Nathan van Hooydonck. Alongside Wout van Aert, Christophe Laporte, Dylan van Baarle and Tiesj Benoot, Jorgenson can chase results and use the team's numbers for his benefit. This year he was fourth in the E3 Saxo Classic and ninth at the Tour of Flanders.
But he will also have his freedom in the spring, and then support at the Tour de France. "I will also try to help Jonas Vingegaard win his third Tour. I have a personal goal to one day be part of a team that wins the Tour de France, so I am looking forward to that as well."
