The Government Delegation in Madrid has confirmed an extraordinary security deployment for this weekend on the occasion of the last two stages of the Vuelta a España 2025 in information from Agencia EFE. In total, 1,100 agents of the National Police and 400 of the Civil Guard will be operational to guarantee both the normal development of the race and the right to demonstrate in the framework of the pro-Palestinian protests against the participation of the Israel - Premier Tech team.
The Government delegate, Francisco Martín, stressed that Spain maintains "international leadership in condemning the genocide of the Palestinian people" and appealed to political responsibility in order "not to heat up the atmosphere".
The coordination of this device was agreed on Wednesday at a meeting that included representatives of the National Police, Civil Guard, Madrid City Council, Directorate General of Traffic, Local Police of fifteen municipalities, Spanish Cycling Federation and Unipublic, organizer of the Vuelta.
On Saturday, during the stage that joins Robledo de Chavela with the Bola del Mundo, 400 civil guards will be mobilized. These troops will be added to the usual security forces already accompanying the race, making up the largest security deployment registered so far in a cycling event in Madrid. Given that the route also crosses stretches of Ávila and Segovia, an exchange of information and coordination has been set up between the police stations of these provinces and Madrid.
