Trek's Matteo Moschetti took a brilliant win in the 4th stage of the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana.
The breakaway consisted today of Manuele Boaro (Astana Qazaqstan Team), Ángel Madrazo (Burgos-BH), Kenny Molly (Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB), Antonio Jesús Soto (Euskalter - Euskadi) and Urko Berrade (Equipo Kern Pharma). Despite the quality, the group was easily brought back with 20 kilometers to go, partly because of the tension that existed in the peloton due to the wind.
In the final kilometers though the sprinter teams took control of the race looking to leadout their leaders into a win. It was one perfect for the opportunists, chaos installed in the streets of Torrevieja as the peloton stringed out and Quick-Step lost position and had it's leadout scattered across the peloton.
Intermarché once again managed to take control of the peloton at the right time but Alexander Kristoff didn't have the power to keep the lead in the final meters and dropped to third.. As Fabio Jakobsen was blocked he didn't go for the sprint, Matteo Moschetti emerged from the left side of the road and took the win, bringing Burgos' Manuel Peñalver finishing a surprising second place, despite being visbily frustrated.
