The 2026 season is just around the corner, as the first race of the year, the Tour Down Under, will kick off in Australia on January 20. As the peloton gears up for an exciting year ahead, Diego Pescador is preparing for the new campaign with a rather unusual companion.
The 21-year-old climber is one of Eusebio Unzué's big long-term bets. He still has a long way to go, but he has already shown flashes of brilliance,
such as his performance in the 2025 Vuelta a Asturias (where he finished 6th in the general classification). He even started Paris-Roubaix, although he did not finish.
Pescador is joined... by a macaw!
Pescador recently made headlines for starring in an
unusual moment during a training session. The Movistar Team rider was doing his last bike ride before the New Year in the municipality of Calarcá, in Colombia, when the most unexpected teammate appeared at his side: a macaw (a type of parrot).
The enormous bird stuck close to his bike for more than 40 seconds and even came close to hitting him in the face. But beyond that, it left Diego Pescador with one of those memories that will never be forgotten. You can watch the video below!
