VIDEO: Lotto Dstny Development Team DS hits race staff with car

At the GP Rik Van Looy a shocking incident took place. Recorded on video by a spectator, it is possible to see him hit a race staff member with the team car after not being allowed onto the race convoy, and ride away. Carl Roes, the DS of Lotto Dstny Development Team, has been immediately suspended by the team.

Stéphane Heulot CEO of the Belgian team, immediately reacted to the news: “This is a very regrettable and unacceptable incident. As soon as we heard this news, we suspended the team leader. There is no excuse for such behavior, it simply should not happen in a race. We would also like to express our apologies to the signalman and the organization.”

The team DS and the staff member have already talked to each other, however Roes has been suspended from the team for the time being. “Carl realizes that he has made a mistake. He already spoke to the signalman and apologized. We take this matter very seriously and are now considering further measures. Until then, Carl will no longer take action.”
