Tudor Pro Cycling have shaken up the transfer market with
one of the most high-profile moves of the year, confirming the signing of Swiss
powerhouse
Stefan Küng. The 31-year-old time trial specialist will leave
Groupama – FDJ after seven seasons to become one of the leaders of Fabian
Cancellara’s ambitious Tudor project, signing a contract through 2028.
Alongside Küng, the Swiss team also announced the arrivals of Luca Mozzato and
Robin Donzé, adding both experience and youth to their growing roster.
For Küng, the move represents both a homecoming and a new
challenge. “As a Swiss cyclist, I have been following the Tudor project closely
and have been very impressed with their mentality and development. Innovation
and R&D are key for the team, and I think that environment can push me to
the next level, especially in time trial cycling. I'm still missing a major
classic in my palmarès, and that's something I really want to achieve,” Küng
said in the official announcement.
Tudor’s financial backing is already on par with many
WorldTour outfits, and this latest transfer underlines their determination to
join cycling’s elite in the coming years. With Küng joining existing stars such
as Julian Alaphilippe and Marc Hirschi, the team is building a line-up capable
of competing at the very highest level.
Küng’s signing naturally takes the headlines, but the
acquisitions of Mozzato and Donzé also fit neatly into Tudor’s vision. Italian
rider Mozzato is eager to seize what he describes as the biggest opportunity of
his career. “I like how the team has grown, not only in structure, but also in
the way it races. This is the biggest opportunity of my career to become the
best cyclist I can be. I want to win, but I also want to be a key part of the
team's success,” he said.
Meanwhile, Donzé is the latest graduate of the Tudor
Development Team, having raced U23 events such as the Tour de l’Avenir. The
22-year-old Swiss climber is relishing the leap into the professional ranks. “Being
part of the Devo team was an incredible experience. But making the jump to the
pros is a childhood dream. I've learned a lot, I've raced the best U-23 races
and now I'm ready for the next challenge,” he said.
Cancellara, team principal and driving force behind the
project, hailed the triple signing as another step in Tudor’s rapid
progression. “We are excited to bolster our squad with more power and depth,
and proud to welcome another Devo rider to the pros. This demonstrates the
excellent work our Development Team continues to do in scouting, training and
developing young talent. Robin has been part of our program since 2022 and we
are confident that he will be a valuable support for our climbers starting next
season,” he concluded.
