Tobias Lund Andresen made a move to Decathlon CMA CGM and his start to the 2026 season has been nothing short of impressive. The Danish sprinter has won stage 1 and the points classification at the Tour Down Under, and now he has also added the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race to his palmarès.
Australia has become a good omen for the Dane, as in 2025 his sole victory came in the Surf Coast Classic. The former Team Picnic PostNL rider never would've guessed he would open up his following season with two World Tour wins in the space of only a few weeks.
At the Tour Down Under he won the second day of racing and spent a day in the race's lead, and then backed that up with three more podium results, confirming his consistency, form, quality leadout and also ability to climb as he rode to third on the final stage to Stirling. Hence he came into the World Tour's first one-day race as one of the main contenders, alongside Matthew Brennan, and those two riders were ultimately the ones who were closest to the winning position.
The race was attacked as usual but the climbs around Geelong were not long enough to put Lund out of contention. He survived within a small group of around 20 riders up the Challambra Crescent and the following uphill ramp, and in the flat kilometers as a group formed up front, the 23-year old himself managed to chase back into the front.

Perfect Australian stint

With so many interests in the leading group, no-one was truly able to surprise, and instead a 21-rider sprint would go on to decide the race. Brennan launched first but Lund Andresen must've felt like he was being led out once again, and when the time was right he made his bid for the line, to capture what must be the biggest win of his career.
“Today’s race was really amazing. After what we did at the Tour Down Under, it’s impressive that we were able to do this in a one-day race like the Cadel Road Race," he said in a post-race interview.
"The team did a really good job from the start, positioning me well at the bottom of the climb. We tried to make it easy to save the maximum amount of energy for the final and my teammates stayed with me and brought me back in position as fast as possible. Then I just went all out and try to take the best wheel to finish everyone’s work.”
