Juan Ayuso lost the leadership of the Tirreno Adriatico yesterday that went to the hands of sprinter Jonathan Milan. Something that the rider from Alicante was grateful, since he did not have to go through the protocol of the podium and could have some more time to rest.
This way he commented it in Cycling Pro Net: "Yesterday without all the podium protocol you make you lose an hour before you get to the hotel, so glad to have recovered a little more and on to today." A crucial detail ahead of two important mountain stages where the overall classification will be decided. The Spaniard won 22 seconds over Jonas Vingegaard on the opening time-trial and has legitimate chances of winning the race.
Regarding Friday's fifth stage, he is clear that Jonas Vingegaard's attack or another rival could come to try to test him, as he has an advantage over all the favorites after winning the initial time trial with authority:
"There are a lot of people with a very high level who surely want to test him, who don't want to wait until tomorrow, the last climb. will be hard, they will try to test me and we will have to respond." Today's ascent to San Giacomo will be a big test, ahead of Saturday's queen stage into Monte Petrano.
