Daniel Martinez is not afraid of Ayuso and Vingegaard in Tirreno Adriatico: "If I have good legs I'll try"

Daniel Martinez started 2024 in his new BORA - hansgrohe colors winning two sprints against Remco Evenepoel in the Volta ao Algarve and, after a crash in Strade Bianche, he says he feels good to face the decisive stages of Tirreno Adriatico.

This is what he said in Cycling Pro Net: "After the fall of Strade Bianche we have the body somewhat resentful and these first stages have not been so hard, so the body has recovered quite well," he says. The opening time-trial was not the best from the Colombian national champion, but it will be in the upcoming two stages that the overall classification will be decided.

He was asked if he saw Jonas Vingegaard and Juan Ayuso as the favorites and what he and the BORA team intended to do: "We'll see today, if I have good legs I'll try, it's a finish that I really like, we have a good team here and we'll see how we move the chips to do the best we can in the end."

"It's twenty-something seconds of Vingegaard with Ayuso and it's today or tomorrow when we have to get him back, something we also want to do ourselves, so we'll try to do our best," he concluded. Martínez sits 12th in the overall classification ahead of today's stage.
