The Opening weekend is here and although it's already March, the weather in Belgium has not always been ideal for this typically summer sport. For the moment, it seems like 2025 will be among the "kind" editions without rain, snow, wind storms or freezing temperatures.

Gusts of wind and rain in the 2020 Omloop, snow and a cancellation of Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne in 2013. The weather gods have not always spared the Flemish opening weekend. "But now the weather is ideal for the riders and the public," opens Sporza weatherman Bram Verbruggen. "The weather will not be a factor in delivering spectacle, as in previous editions."

"On Saturday there will be a moderate wind from the northeast, which will cause them to have a light headwind, especially towards the end of the Omloop towards Ninove. However, it will not blow hard enough to create echelons. "It's not too warm. It won't be much warmer than 6 degrees on Saturday. There will be some clear spells in the afternoon, but it will still be mainly cloudy."

The peloton is also spared in Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne. "There is even less wind than during the Omloop," according to weatherman Bram Verbruggen. "2 Beaufort, that is a really weak wind from the northeast."

"In addition, it will also be a bit sunnier during Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne. The riders will be able to ride in the sun for most of the race, which is also more pleasant for the public. The temperatures will remain around 7 degrees, which is not too bad. So the weather will not be decisive for the course of the race."

Riders won't be exactly sunbathing in short sleeves, but for the first of spring classics, this forecast is more than pleasant to all participants as well as spectators by the side of the road.
