Isaac del Toro has been racing a smaller-quality calendar in his last months of the season but after winning the GP Industria & Artigianato, the Mexican rider confirms that he will be racing the World Championships and will be one of
Tadej Pogacar's main favourites. .
It was clear to him that he didn't favor a large peloton and that the race had to break early, something he discussed with his UAE colleagues before the race: "The truth is I talked to the guys that we had to do something different, also with Scaroni who I knew was very strong, I wanted not to make a mistake and to be attentive."
He jumped at the right time for Scaroni and Davide Piganzoli on the final climb, leaving without options the arrival of a larger group at the finish straight, and there he imposed his speed. And then in the final uphill sprint to the line, the youngster had enough in the tank to rack up a 10th win this season.
"At the end I think we all had a lot of pressure because we only had 10 seconds with the rear group and I just wanted to keep the pace with caution. I think I worked well in the end".
Del Toro's incredible year in Italy with the victory in the Giro is now confirmed with this important victory in the GP Industria: "Yes, the fans here always support me and I'm always happy to race here".
He will surely race one more Italian classic next week with his sights set on the World Championships in Kigali on September 28, where he will try to challenge his teammate Tadej Pogacar, among others: "The truth is that yes, like many others, it will not be an easy race, but I will try to play as I do in all races to try to be there ahead".
Isaac del Toro's 2025 is incredible with victories in Milano-Torino, Giro d'Italia, Tour of Austria, Clàssica Terres de l'Ebre, Circuito de Getxo, Vuelta a Burgos and now in the GP Industria. Next week in Italy he will race the Giro della Toscana, the Coppa Sabatini, the Marco Pantani Memorial and the Trofeo Matteoti most likely. Here, he will have several opportunities to prove his form once again ahead of his trip to Africa.
