The next few months will be Lawson Craddock's last as a professional rider. The American from Team Jayco AlUla has announced that he will hang up his bike at the end of this season and will thus conclude his career.
"I’m thrilled to say that 2024 will be my last year in the professional peloton," wrote Craddock on his Instagram profile. "There are so many people to thank, but none more than my wife and children. I’m so happy to have them by my side and can’t wait to see what the future holds."
In 2014, Craddock entered the professional ranks with Team Giant - Shimano. After two seasons, he made a switch to Jonathan Vaughters' American formation Cannondale - Drapac Pro Cycling (currently EF Education-EasyPost), where he continued for six more years before joining Jayco AlUla where, after three seasons, he'll bid farewell to the peloton.
Over the years, Craddock made a name for himself as a strong timetrialist winning the US title back-to-back in 2021 and 2022 or finishing 6th at the 2019 World Championships. In addition, the American proved times and times over to be a reliable teammate in hilly and mountainous terrains as well as a dangerous opponent in breakaways of the biggest races, with a third place from a stage of the 2019 Vuelta and fourth at the 2023 Tour.
