Team Visma | Lease a Bike have confirmed they will not
participate in the 2025
Tour of Slovenia, citing a number of injuries within
their squad as the reason for withdrawal. The decision comes just days before
the start of the race, which is scheduled to run from the 4th to the 8th of
June.
The Tour of Slovenia has grown in prestige in recent years,
regularly attracting WorldTour teams and serving as an important build-up race
for riders targeting the Tour de France. Past editions have seen victories from
local heroes Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic, helping to raise the event’s
international profile. This year’s edition, coming directly after the Giro
d’Italia, is expected to feature a strong field once again, but not the Dutch
squad.
Visma had initially planned to bring a promising line-up to
the five-day race, including Niklas Behrens, Loe van Belle, Thomas Gloag,
Tijmen Graat, Menno Huising, and Daniel McLay. However, with multiple riders
unavailable due to injuries, the team has opted to withdraw entirely rather
than field a depleted roster.
No further details have been provided regarding the specific
injuries, but the team’s decision reflects a cautious approach as they manage
rider health heading into the summer season. While Visma will be a notable
absentee in Slovenia, the team is expected to return to racing in the coming
weeks as the build-up to the Tour de France intensifies.
