Team Visma | Lease a Bike enters fight for Lenny Martínez signing - "We had some good talks"

The race for Lenny Martínez has opened up to another giant. After Bahrain-Victorious and INEOS Grenadiers, Team Visma | Lease a Bike is also in contention to get the young climbing sensation who insists on staying at Groupama-FDJ.

“We had some good talks, but not concrete yet. It could happen," Visma DS Merijn Zeeman told GCN. This confirms contacts between the two, and in favourable terms. Last winter, the likes of Matteo Jorgenson and mainly Cian Uijtdebroeks were very open on how they specifically wanted to join the Dutch team after their massive success of 2023 and how they manage to get the best out of many of their climbers. This could, above the money, be a very convincing argument for the Dutch team.

Miguel Martínez, former pro and father of the Groupama rider said in a recent interview that Lenny told him 'even with two times less, I prefer to stay at Groupama - FDJ'. Hence, it is difficult to say if the 20-year old will move on at the end of this season or if he will continue to develop in the team that saw him turn pro.

Hence it is is difficult to say where the future of the French climber will be. This year he finished second to Jonas Vingegaard at O Gran Camiño, finished on the Top10 of the Volta a Catalunya and Tour de Romandie; and won the following French classics: Classic Var; Classic Grand Besançon Doubs and Tour du Doubs.
