SD Worx is going at full strength to the upcoming Tour de France Femmes. The Dutch team has the top favorite for the overall victory with Demi Vollering, but is also counting on sprinter Lorena Wiebes and breakaways with Marlen Reusser and Lotte Kopecky.
"We have opted for a group that is complementary and that has the qualities to create race situations," sports director Danny Stam looks ahead to the French grand tour in a press release. "That is no guarantee that you can just bend the Tour to your will. I recently explored the course and came to the conclusion that it is a tough course with some stages that are really tough."
"You can lose the Tour de France in a snap. You have to be sharp every day, because an accident lurks in a small corner," Stam believes. "Demi Vollering has taken a step forward in every area and is better than last year, but the competition has also emerged stronger in recent weeks. I expect that we will have a nice Tour with a lot of battle."
