The 2025 season is marking the debut of
Pablo Torres at the highest level of cycling. One of the main jewels of Spain's future is riding for the
UAE Team Emirates - XRG World Tour team for the first time, and although he is still training, his ambition knows no limits.
The 19-year-old rider from Madrid recently gave an interview to
Le Puncheur. There, Torres couldn't help but "ask" his UAE Team Emirates XRG for clearer opportunities to be able to stand out on his own.
So far, Pablo Torres' work this season has been as a domestiques for the leaders that he has had to help in the races he has competed in: "In races such as the Volta a Catalunya (where he was Juan Ayuso's domestique) it's my turn to help the team. But I would like that in other races that are more accessible I could take on a more ambitious role and fight for victories," begins Pablo Torres.
However, for Pablo Torres this is not a criticism, far from it, of his UAE, but rather a reminder. So far everything that has happened to him has been very positive, and for that he has only words of thanks:
"The truth is that I am very happy and comfortable here. Obviously the level is much higher, and it's hard to adapt. But they are giving me a lot of peace of mind and adapting my training. They know I'm still young," added the Spanish rider.
The race that Pablo Torres will aim for this year will be, once again, the Tour de l'Avenir. In the 2024 edition, the Madrid-born rider won two stages and finished 2nd overall, on the verge of a historic comeback. That's why he wants to have this race in his palmarès before moving on to bigger goals:
"After last year's second place, this year I will come back to try to win it. I know it's a chaotic race, but I will prepare for it with a lot of desire. It's my main goal," Torres concluded.
