Michael Storer celebrates his 2025 Tour of the Alps GC win
The Tour of the Alps returns from April 20–24, 2026, with the five-stage race once again serving as one of the final and most revealing tests ahead of the Giro d’Italia. This page provides the full startlist for the 2026 edition, featuring a mix of established Grand Tour contenders, in-form climbers and emerging talents looking to make their mark in the high mountains.

A key Giro d’Italia stepping stone

Formerly known as the Giro del Trentino, the Tour of the Alps has developed into one of the most respected week-long stage races on the calendar. Its compact format and relentless climbing have made it a proving ground for riders targeting the Giro d’Italia, often offering a clearer indication of form than longer, more controlled stage races.
The race’s honours list reflects that status. Riders such as Geraint Thomas, Romain Bardet and Simon Yates have all used the event as a platform for success at the highest level.
In recent years, the race has continued to highlight both consistency and attacking racing. Michael Storer claimed overall victory in 2025, holding off Thymen Arensman and Derek Gee in a tightly contested general classification.

Standout names in the 2026 startlist

The 2026 edition once again brings together a deep field of climbers and stage race specialists, with several riders arriving as genuine contenders for the overall classification.
Leading the line is Egan Bernal, who headlines a strong INEOS Grenadiers squad alongside Thymen Arensman. The Dutchman returns after his podium finish last year, while Bernal’s presence adds further weight to the team’s ambitions in the mountains.
Aleksandr Vlasov leads the challenge for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, supported by rising talents Giulio Pellizzari and Lorenzo Finn, forming one of the most intriguing combinations of experience and youth in the race.

From Team Jayco AlUla, Ben O'Connor arrives as another proven stage race contender, while defending champion Michael Storer returns with Tudor Pro Cycling Team aiming to repeat his 2025 success.
Elsewhere, Derek Gee leads a versatile Lidl - Trek line-up that also includes Lennard Kamna and Patrick Konrad, offering multiple options in both attacking scenarios and general classification battles.
There is further climbing depth across the field, with riders such as Eddie Dunbar and Chris Harper for Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, as well as Koen Bouwman and Alexander Cepeda adding further depth to what is expected to be an aggressive and unpredictable race.
