24-year-old Australian
Liam Walsh of the CCACHE x BODYWRAP has taken victory on stage 3 of the 2025
Czech Tour, kicking to the line powerfully from a bunch sprint finale, shocking pre-stage favourite
Luke Lamperti.
A five man group attacked early to form the breakaway. Among them was King of the Mountains leader Nicolò Garibbo of Team UKYO, who increased his lead in the classification on the day's only categorised climb. The Italian was also best placed in terms of the GC, but at 3:30 down, there was no immediate threat. Soon after taking those aforementioned KoM points, Garibbo dropped back to the peloton.
As the break started to attack itself inside the final 25km, Loïc Bettendorff proved the last man standing, but with 8km to go, he too was absorbed by a full gas peloton. From there, attention turned fully towards the inevitable bunch sprint finish that would be the decider of the day.
Luke Lamperti was the big, pre-stage favourite and as such, Soudal - Quick-Step were fighting hard for position at the front of the bunch heading into the finale. When the sprints opened though, it wasn't Lamperti who took the win, with the American being upset at the line by Liam Walsh.
