Mads Pedersen capped off a dominant week on home roads with a third stage victory and the overall title at the 2025 Tour of Denmark, calling it “a perfect race” and “beyond anything we could have dreamed of” as he reflected on a performance that left no room for doubt.
The Lidl-Trek rider was in imperious form all week, bookending the five-stage race with stage wins and sealing his third career GC title at the national tour – equalling Jakob Fuglsang’s record from 2008–2010. Pedersen now stands as one of only two riders to have won the race three times, but the manner of his 2025 triumph – with three stages and the overall – elevated this campaign to another level.
Speaking after the final stage in Helsingør, which saw him outsprint Axel Zingle in a reduced group of five, Pedersen paid tribute to his teammates and the week they executed to perfection.
“It’s been an absolutely incredible week for us – far beyond anything we could have dreamed of. It’s been fantastic,” he told DR Sporten, visibly emotional after sealing the title on home soil.
Pedersen singled out the role of his Lidl-Trek teammates, particularly fellow Danes Mattias Skjelmose and Soren Kragh Andersen, as well as young Swede Jakob Soderqvist, all of whom were key in both stage hunting and controlling the race from the front.
“A perfect race for us,” he summarised. “It’s easy to say from the outside when it all goes to plan, but the boys delivered every single day. We raced hard, took our chances, and came away with more than we could have asked for.”

Mads Pedersen has had a brilliant season in 2025 with 13 wins and counting

A prolific season continues

This marks Pedersen’s 13th win of the 2025 season – the second most of any rider globally, behind only Tadej Pogacar. His consistency, versatility, and tactical sharpness have been on full display this year, and his home victory only strengthens his case as one of the most well-rounded riders in the peloton.
Having taken GC wins, sprints, and one-day classics, Pedersen's season continues to build momentum heading into the final months of the calendar. “To do this in Denmark, in front of these fans, and with this team – it just means the world,” he said. “This one will stay with me.”
