The 2026
Trofeo Andratx crowned
Remco Evenepoel as its new winner. The Olympic Champion began the race as the main favourite and
once again stepped up to the task; taking his second individual win of the season within two opportunities with
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe.
Many riders attacked early in the day, knowing that the climb to Puig Major could see big differences and benefit those who began the climb up front - as was the case the previous days. Jonathan Caicedo, Alexys Brunel, Adne Holter, Felix Engelhardt, Raúl García Pierna, Diego Uriarte and Samuel Férnandez got themselves in the front group, a strong one that would only be caught on the climb itself.
There
Remco Evenepoel pushed the pace and tried launching Maxim van Gils up the road, but the Belgian wasn't able to create the difference. Christian Scaroni was also quite active, but with Evenepoel present, no-one would be able to surprise. A group of 9 riders then went over the summit and collaborated away from the remaining riders. However with the van Gils card not having worked, Evenepoel decided to attack on the flat roads and secure the win for the German team. Mathys Rondel and Diego Pescador followed him at first, but the Movistar struggled with the pure watts that were necessary to follow the move. Hence a duo was formed in the front to fight for the win, whilst the remaining would fight for a spot on the podium.
Rondel collaborated with the Belgian rider despite knowing the chances of taking the win would be low; however it would secure him a brilliant second place - after yesterday's fourth at the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana. Hence the Swiss rider wasn't stiff with Evenepoel, and the two worked together until the final 3-kilometer long ascent, where Evenepoel launched an attack that wasn't matched and took the victory. Rondel was second whilst Evenepoel's teammate Maxim van Gils rode to third on the day.
