A three-rider breakaway featuring Awet Aman, Samet Bulut and Jonah Killy remained clear after the day’s only categorised climb, a 7km ascent at 4.5%.
The trio held a narrow advantage over the peloton after cresting the climb, with teams including
Cofidis and Alpecin-Premier Tech working at the front of the bunch as the gap came down. The breakaway was eventually caught with over 30 kilometres remaining, bringing the peloton back together for the run-in to the finish.
Following the catch, the peloton remained largely together despite a number of accelerations and brief splits that were later closed. Cofidis and Alpecin-Premier Tech remained active at the front of the peloton heading into the final 20 kilometres, while other teams also moved into position in anticipation of a sprint finish. With around 100 riders still in the main group inside the final 10 kilometres, the stage remained set for a fast run-in towards Fethiye.
Inside the final kilometre, teams moved into position at the head of the peloton before Gaviria launched his sprint from the front. Aniolkowski followed and came through in the closing metres to take the win, securing victory in the fourth stage of the race.
Stage 5 continues the race as the parcours begins to build again towards the decisive mountain stages later in the week.
