Soudal - Quick-Step have in
Paul Magnier a massive talent but in no universe would they have expected to have the French sprinter take 17 wins in the 2025 season - and counting. The powerhouse continues his unbeatable streak at the
Tour of Guangxi by winning once again in stage 3.
A stage with significant implications for the overall classification as Harold Martín López and Mattias Skjelmose, two of the favourites for the overall classification, have abandoned - the latter with back pain as he had already told the team before travelling around the world following Il Lombardia.
The breakaway of the day was made of Liam Slock, Simon Gugliemi, Ryan Gibbons, Ryan Mullen and Zhen Li. Astana and Quick-Step kept the peloton at bay close by, and with Gibbons quickly giving up on the move it was a calm day in the peloton before reaching the hilly section of the stage. The South African then attacked again after the breakaway was caught just outside the final 30 kilometers, but without pressuring the peloton too much, he was caught himself then with 20 to go.
Astana still tried pushing the pace uphill to the benefit of Max Kanter but the climbs were simply not hard enough to do damage in the peloton, and the riders headed towards another bunch sprint where Magnier continued to emphasize his status in this race, taking yet another 10 bonus seconds that also begin to put him as a GC contender. Jordi Meeus and Max Kanter were second and third.
