Stage 2 of the Tour of Guangxi had some climbing on the menu and could've potentially had a different outcome, but the race is following the same pattern as the Tour of Slovakia and Cro Race. Paul Magnier is simply dominating every race he goes to this end of season, as he's now also won his second out of two sprint stages.
The breakaway of the day was formed by a set of riders that included GC men for this race, seeking out bonus seconds which can prove vital later in the week. Peter Oxenberg, Frank van den Broek, Stan Dewulf, Simon Gugliemi, Kevin Geniets and Michael Valgren provided the peloton with some tension too. However the gap would be kept short and on the day's climb, with around 8 kilometers at 4%, there were hard attacks which saw a few splits in the peloton, not allowing for a regular bunch sprint.
Dewulf would be the last rider to get caught with 5 kilometers to go and shortly after Jhonatan Narváez also lauched an attack, but it proved to be too flat to make a difference. The riders headed for another sprint and there, race leader Magnier was the fastest, extending his race lead in the process. He beat Pavel Bittner and Stanislaw Aniolkowski directly.
