Team Jayco AlUla's Paul Double has won the queen stage of the Tour of Guangxi and has set ground for the overall win this Sunday in the Chinese race which will close out the calendar. The Briton won the summit finish to Nongla and has become the new race leader with a strong performance.
The UAE Team Emirates - XRG rider didn't want to chase Paul Double, who had attacked earlier, 2.4 kilometers from the finish with Mikkel Honoré, to get away with it. It was a strong attack that was ultimately not possible to bring back the Briton's pace was simply superior to that of his rivals, and the 29-year-old Jayco AlUla rider took the win at the top of the climb. Double crossed the finish line alone to become the new overall leader as Paul Magnier had been dropped earlier.
As for the other candidates, Cian Uijtdebroeks crossed the finish line 5th, just ahead of Jhonatan Narvaez. Victor Lafay was second, 15 seconds behind Paul Double who finished exhausted. The Top 3 of the day was closed by Mikkel Honoré,.
