Davide Donati powered to his second win of the week in Olbia, timing his sprint to perfection to close out the 2026 Giro di Sardegna, while
Filippo Zana safely secured the overall title for the
Soudal - Quick-Step team.
After a long solo move from Riccardo Perani, the final stage unfolded exactly as expected. The Beltrami TSA Tre Colli rider was reeled in inside the final 20 kilometres, with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies and Team Polti VisitMalta driving the chase at a relentless pace from the peloton.
A late attempt from Diego Uriarte briefly delayed the inevitable, but the peloton came back together before the final kilometre. From there, it was a question of positioning as the final sprint was locked in.
Red Bull delivered Donati into the decisive phase in control. Sitting fifth wheel inside the final kilometre, the Italian launched with 400 metres to go and held off his rivals in a tight finish to take the stage. It marks the third professional victory of his career and confirms his status as the standout sprinter of this edition after already winning Stage 2 and finishing second on Stage 3. Behind him, the general classification remained unchanged.
Zana caps dominant week
Filippo Zana rolled safely through the finale to confirm overall victory, having taken control of the race on Stage 4’s summit finish in Nuoro. The Italian leaves Sardegna with two stage wins and the general classification, underlining both his climbing authority and consistency across the five days.
Gianmarco Garofoli finished second overall, completing a strong week for Soudal Quick-Step, while Alessandro Verre secured third on the podium.
In a race that began with unpredictability and finished with clarity, Sardegna ultimately belonged to Zana in the hills and Donati on the flat — a clean split of honours on the island.
