Paul Magnier has won stage 4 of the Deutschland Tour, taking his first win in a race where he showed his best form from start to finish. The Soudal - Quick-Step rider managed to cross the line in first place, but it happened after a very narrow successful pursuit of race leader Isaac del Toro.
The breakaway of the day was made up of Miguel Heidemann, Lennart Voege, Ben Felix Jochum, Ian Kings, Ko Molenaar and Dominik Röber. The final day of the race was hilly, not as difficult as the previous day but with two laps in the finale including an ascent of 2.6 kilometers at 6.1%.

Isaac del Toro chases solo win

On the final lap, after the break was caught, Louis Barré launched an attack in the peloton, trying to pressure the overall leader. Isaac del Toro and Mathias Vacek responded to the move, and shortly after the Mexican himself attacked the race and went off the front by himself.
Vacek and Barré were caught with 6 kilometers to go but Del Toro remained isolated, heading into Heilbronn with the victory in sight. The UAE Team Emirates - XRG rider had virtually confirmed his overall win, but the stage win would escape his hands in the very final meters of the stage.
Del Toro was caught in sight of the line, already mid-sprint, with Paul Magnier bringing the peloton along. The Soudal - Quick-Step rider had the speed to close the gap and withstand Danny van Poppel and Tim Torn Teutenberg who came from behind.
