There is no stopping
Paul Magnier at the moment. Following another impressive sprint win on stage 2 of the 2025
Cro Race, the
Soudal - Quick-Step star now has six wins in his last seven race days!
On a curiously short day of 51 almost pan-flat kilometres, there was an immediate fight from the flag drop as a string of riders launched attacks. With 40km to go, a six-man group had managed to get around 30 seconds separation from the peloton, with former Tour de Langkawi stage winner Alex Molenaar of the Caja Rural - Seguros RGA team among the attackers.
By the time the lead group reached the day's intermediate sprint at just under 30km to go, their numbers had diminished to just four, but their lead had extended out over a minute. At 20km to go, the strength of the group had been cut again, down to just three and with the peloton closing in, the writing seemed on the wall for the breakaway. With just over 9km to go, they had been swallowed up by the peloton.
With a punchy bunch finish almost certain from that point, all attention turned towards preparing for the finale and trying to gain control at the front of the bunch. In that fight for the finish line it was then Paul Magnier who powered to victory for Soudal - Quick-Step once again, as
Edoardo Zambanini and
Ben Turner completed the stage podium.
