Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe is going through a massive overhaul. After the dismissal of Rold Aldag the team is also letting go of head DS
Enrico Gasparotto with immediate effect, despite the team's successful Tour de France that has ended with Florian Lipowitz on the podium and victory in the youth classification.
The German team, right after the end of the Tour de France, announced the departure of Aldag in what was termed a mutual agreement between the two. What wasn't expected what what
Sporza has reported this morning: The team has also let go Enrico Gasparotto, who was the head DS of the team at the Tour and several other major races.
This comes directly after the Tour de France where it has been heavily argued that the team have arranged the final details to sign
Remco Evenepoel. Whilst no-one would confirm it publicly, the German team's moves over the past few weeks seem too coincidental for it not to be related to the Olympic Champion.
Sven Vanthourenhout, former national coach of the Belgian team - and the man who guided Evenepoel towards his World and Olympic titles - has started working with BORA... Today on the 1st of August, replacing Aldag. According to a recent report from La Dernière Heure, the signing of Evenepoel would come together with Soudal - Quick-Step DS Klaas Lodewyck. With Gasparotto out of the team, it could be very possible that it is opening up space for a new DS.
Several reputable sources have already indicated during the Tour that a deal was close to being agreed on, with some arguing that after his departure from the race, this was fully confirmed behind the scenes. Evenepoel would not only join BORA but his DS Lodewyck would join; as well as mechanic Dario Kloek and soigneur David Geeroms. It shall be seen in the upcoming weeks whether this will be confirmed, but it becomes harder and harder for BORA to refute the rumours.
