Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe leader
Primoz Roglic was, traditionally, brief about his goals, ambitions... and pretty much any expectations for the upcoming
Giro d'Italia. But the team of five-time Grand Tour winner can't afford to aim for anything less than overall victory. Such opportunity to race without Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel may not arise again.
"Our ambition for the Giro is clear," said sports director
Rolf Aldag during a press conference. "We want to be a factor in the GC and deliver an exciting race for the fans. We know how tough it’s going to be, and we know all eyes are on Primoz."
Although nobody will say it out-loud, the ambition of the German team to prevail are evident also from the "support" team around the Slovenian. With former Giro winner Jai Hindley, Daniel Martínez, Giovanni Aleotti and Giulio Pellizzari, the men with Red Bull logo on chest should be a dominant force in the mountains.
And so the biggest dangers remains the Slovenian's crash rate... "That’s exactly why we’re surrounding him with a strong, balanced team. Primoz is in top form, and the guys around him are battle-hardened, which gives us a range of tactical options," Aldag added.
