Quinten Hermans is one of the breakthrough riders of the 2022 season, with a second place at Liège-Bastogne-Liège surprising even the most hopeful fans.
Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux are trying to keep their Belgian star, however a hard task as other teams compete for him.
He has not yet signed a contract for 2023 despite the interest of his team, alongside Alpecin-Fenix and Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team. “Why is it taking so long? I'm not really in a rush," Hermans told Wielerflits. "A number of teams are interested and will continue to be interested. I am now in consultation with my management about what is the best option for me sportingly and financially.”
Hermans has for several years been a top rider in the cyclocross field, however he's been able to take that form into the road. He had a late start to the season as he rested after his winter schedule, and alongside his success in Liège he was also near the front at Itzulia Basque Country and Tour de Romandie.
He'll be racing the Tour de France this summer, his Grand Tour debut, and he explains that he's been preparing for it: “I think that ambition is no secret. We have also done everything we can with the team to be as good as possible towards the Tour de France," the Belgian concluded.
