Primoz Roglic transfer update as one team reportedly out of race to sign Slovenian - Red Bull rider's future remains unclear ahead of 2027 season
Cycling
The future of Primoz Roglic remains unclear as the Slovenian heads into the final weeks of 2026 without a confirmed contract for the 2027 season. The new time trial European champion will leave Red Bull - BORA Hansgrohe at the end of the season, but has admitted that he's unsure what his next move will be.
With Roglic enjoying a purple patch to the end of the season with his new European champion jersey and Vuelta a Espana second place, the 37-year-old certainly has offers on the table and options at his disposal to continue in the pro peloton next year.
Tudor Pro Cycling and Lotto-Intermarche are reported to have major interest. Elsewhere, Unibet Rose Rockets and Bahrain-Victorious have also been linked with a transfer. In recent weeks, Visma | Lease a Bike had also been touted as a potential destination in a reunion following his eight-season stint with the team.
Now, journalist Daniel Benson reports that Pinarello Q36.5, who had also been linked with Roglic, were no longer in discussions with the rider following negotiations in October.

Pinarello Q36.5 out of Roglic race
Roglic has raced for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe for the past three seasons and is now leaving, after the team has developed and signed a new batch of leaders - which feature Remco Evenepoel as its headliner. Roglic and Evenepoel have only raced as teammates on one occasion the entire season: Roglic's very last day racing for the German team, at Il Lombardia.
Over recent weeks, pundits and analysts have discussed other major teams as potential suitors for Roglic. While UAE Team Emirates - XRG have been mentioned, Netcompany INEOS is another potential option.
"What about Netcompany INEOS, Primoz Roglic? Like he kind of is perfect for them because they need, they need a microwave rider," Spencer Martin argued on The Move podcast. "Like they someone that can just come in and win a Grand Tours. There's not many riders that can do that".

Roglic to INEOS?
INEOS' have Thymen Arensman, Egan Bernal, Oscar Onley, Kévin Vauquelin and Carlos Rodríguez as weapons for the Grand Tours, but could only reach a third place at the Giro d'Italia as their best result. Its Tour de France was highly criticized due to the lack of results; whilst Oscar Onley could only manage a sixth place after putting his specific focus on La Vuelta.
There, Roglic was second, despite lacking a large supporting block for the mountains. His performance over the three weeks, following his ride at the World Championships and the European time trial title proved that the Slovenian is still a top rider - aside from complete.
"I don't totally hate it, they got a guy that could open a checkbook and make it happen, but yeah, for sure. Geraint Thomas is on the record saying that he's passed his prime. Is that a negotiation technique? We don't know what's going on there, Geraint Thomas," he said.

- A mindset that reminds me of Tim Declerq. I loved watching that guy just pound away the kilometers, hours at the front, holding an entire breakaway in check on his own. Bjerg seems like a similar guy. Curling, the team sport.RidesHills04-11-2026
- He will be lol, but he can still win on the climbs hahaawp04-11-2026
- I would love to have his inconsistency. How many wins this year? 2 TdF stages, a WC, a Euro championship, San Sebastian, multiple wins early year. Monument podiums. I'd take it. I don't think he has a chance in the TdF, but he is still amazing.mij04-11-2026
- He's not going to win the TdF. Maybe if they make every single stage a TT he could win. But I still believe Tadej would just sharpen his TT skills and win.mij04-11-2026
- You beat me to it. Should he make a full recovery (likely) and go light early in the year. One, two, three. Don't ask me, I don't give a damn. Should he be on a Feel-Like-He's-Fixin'-to-Die High.Yepperoni04-11-2026

- It's weird to say Evenepoel would be making a "serious mistake by adding the 2027 Giro d'Italia to his calendar, warning that such a decision could even be interpreted as a lack of confidence in his ability to win the Tour de France." It may well be a mistake but with so many commentators (of all sorts) continuously claiming almost everything Remco does as being a mistake, almost nobody should care what the pundits and the disparagers should say. His team may not want him to do the Giro, and that matters. But it's possibly or probably up to Remco to decide and it may not have to be decided on until a month or so ahead of the race. Yes , Remco is inconsistent much like the majority of the best riders but he's enjoying a period of not having been recently injured (or sick). Whatever he does he need not be concerned with critics who will second guess any perceived failure no matter what. I suspect he will have enough other races on his schedule so he won't be considering it. But the worst reason to not race it is because of what some will say - humorous that be.Yepperoni04-11-2026
