The Tour de France Femmes 2025 will be a very exciting route featuring a start in Bretagne and a finale in the Alps. The top race in the women's calendar starts on the 26th July and ends on the 3rd of August. We preview stage 9.
The final mountain stage is different but features a very exciting profile. The race will end in the city of Châtel but before reaching it the riders tackle the very hard Col de Joux-Plane (11.6 kilometers, 8.5%) mid-stage and then another difficult ascent before what can be a very tactical flat run-in to the end of the race.
The stage has a mostly downhill start so it won't be overly hard to control, and taking into consideration Ferrand-Prevot's climbing legs today, it will be very hard to put her under a lot of pressure. The Frenchwoman will still have to be careful even on a top day as there are sketchy downhills and quite a few climbs so there can still be a few hard attacks.
There will be an ascent after the Joux-Plane that is still steep and can see surprises after a very hard day and week overall - riders can still explode at this point in the race. It is a very hard request but Demi Vollering will not be happy with a third place; Katarzyyna Niewiadoma, Pauliena Rooijakkers and Cédrine Kerbaol will however be eyeing her place in the podium. Sarah Gigante starts the day in second place and should attack as well, but the descents will prove to be a significant challenge for her.
Stage 9: Praz-Sur-Arly - Châtel, 124 kilometers
