Stage 2 of the
AlUla Tour will be taking place on the 28th of January, with an estimated start and finish time at 10:50 and 14:00CET. This will be another day where the sprinters will take to the front as the entire day of racing is as flat as a pancake, however as we've been able to see on the opening day -
won by Jonathan Milan - the overall classification might be in dispute as well, as the riders should be facing strong winds on exposed roads.
Like stage 1, the second day of racing starts and finishes on the same location - in this case the Almansihiyah Train Station - whilst having a loop through the desert and then a small circuit finish. This one however, will be much flatter and suited to a pure sprint.
That won't make much of a difference in terms of results however. Today it was possible to have a few conclusions from the riders' from, but none that were surprising. The flat sprint may allow riders like Fabio Jakobsen or Jason Tesson to have slightly better chances of contesting for a top result, but near the top the favourites were already known since the start.
Jonathan Milan, without his leadout, won the opening stage. Milan Fretin was second with a Cofidis that looked mighty strong, whilst Matteo Moschetti, Phil Bauhaus and Pascal Ackermann form a third line of contenders for the stage win. Outside of that, even with some confusion, it'll be hard to see a winner outside of those men.
